How much do our Needs normally require?

History sets the planning guardrail. Current-cycle spending is shown separately so incomplete card coverage never pretends to be a complete forecast.

🧩 What made each cycle expensive?

Groceries, fuel, routine pets, vet care, health, auto/transit and other valid essentials reconcile the Needs total.

The current cycle grows with every CSV import. Pace is not scored or forecast while card coverage is too early to be meaningful. Status signals only appear when there is enough current evidence. Vet and auto shocks stay separate so emergencies do not masquerade as normal grocery or routine pet spending. “Other essentials” captures valid Needs that do not belong in recurring categories, such as back-to-school purchases.

Planning rule: median describes a typical recent cycle; average shows the arithmetic mean; P75 is the more cautious Protected reserve. None of these numbers is a bank balance.
